The ceasefire agreement was hailed by many Sri Lankan, When it was signed, as a significant step forward in ushering peace to the country. The CFA also has its critics;some criticisms were justified , some were not.The Content, the manner in which it was implemented , the actors who were involved, the process that was followed, the attitude and behavior of the LTTE and domestic politics in southern Sri Lanka put the CFA and under strain and hindered the functioning of the CFA gradually until it was officially annulled by the government in 2008.
